Sts snorkel
 

I am going to build a custom snorkel for the turbo. My plans are to go up into the bed and i have a plastic dinky tool box that sits in the bed. I am going to use a whole saw and cut a hole in the bed and the tool box. Cut some slits in the tool box and put some kind of mesh on it to keep dirt out. This way water will never get to the filter and it will stay like 10times cleaner being there away from the road and all the dirt mud ect.... I dont like the snorkel that just goes in the bed side.What i was wondering is what i can use to make the piping out of. Exhaust pipe would be ideal but that is too many bends and it would be a pain to weld and all that good stuff. (i suck at welding!!!!) Do you think using pvc pipe and some couplings would work. i would wrap the pipe where ever it gets close to the exhaust, being that i think it being on the cold side of the turbo it wont get that hot, i dont think. The reason i ask is cause i made a intake out of pvc and sewage couplings when it was still n/a.

Sounds like fun! PVC would work, the one STS uses is that plastic accordion crap that has metal wire spiraling through it. I know I sound like a dumb ass trying to explain it but I don't know what it's called. Whatever you pick, find something that doesn't retain and absorb heat.

I like the idea. It will be so cool when the guy that steals the toolbox gets back to his cave, opens it up, and finds an airfilter! :lol:

If home depot only knew they sold turbo supplies!!!!!! Im gonna go tomorrow and hopefully get all the stuff to make it. What size should i run 4"???? also should the filter that comes on the kn fipk flow plenty its like a 5" opening

The opening on the T60-1 is 3" and I believe the same for the GT67. The air filter has a 3" opening unless you are running a larger compressor in which case it would likely be 4". 3" tubing should work and that is the size the snorkel flex tubing is. I don't think there would be much of an advantage to 4" and having to use reducers at either end.

A long time ago, on ls1 tech, someone else did this exact thing. I believe it worked very well for them....
