update: got the rings...question now is in reference to gap...go to page 2...

preferably, based on personal experiences...please post your preferred brand of rings for boosted applications...
also, any info you have found in researching different rings for boost is welcome as well...

I went with a set of Ackerly and Childs Hellfire rings for my 408 based on reccomendation from Richard at WCCH and Rex.

I had already bought a set of Total Seal gapless rings that I planned to use to help keep oil consumption down on my 408. When I pulled the gapless top ring out of the box I could see that a good portion of the ring was missing to accomodate the sealing ring that sits on the top ring. It is hard to explain, but basically I had a 1/16 ring that was more like 1/32 on the top. I could see problems with this in a high boost engine. I'll stick to the standard ring sets from now on.

I have heard the same about not using the gapless, however, the Total Seal AP rings are highly recommended...
Recently found out that Hastings Mfg. (Hastings Piston Rings) makes WiseCo's rings as well as Total Seal's...whodathunkit???
I have been told that the HellFire rings were more suited for a "track only" motor...and not suited very well for a DD...

I let diamond "custom match" a set of their rings to my custom slugs. I don't really know what that means, except that I'm running diamond rings :)

My pistons are Diamond as well...I thought about going with their Pro Select rings for these pistons...
I bought a used, balanced rotating assy...current rings are Total Seal AP's...Diamond slugs and Howard rods...stock crank

now back to the rings...

I was told the same thing the ring tends to wear out the bore more and has a harder time "Seating"

I would go with GFX rings. But I do not have any experience with any......

I was told they just need to be broke in properly to work,use an oil with lots of zinc and phosporous for the break in to seat the rings then you are golden.
