Default New truck with a whipple

Hey everyone. I recently purchased a GMC Sierra 2500 that has a whipple shupercharger. I was told by the previous own, who had receipts, that the truck had a 8psi pulley and forged rotating assembly and that it was installed and tuned by a GM dealership. I know nothing about this whipple and i am looking for information about it. I have tried google but came up short handed and the whipple fourm is dead. So can someone tell me anything about my whipple. ie, size, upgrades, model? I added a photo to help. Thanks guys.

Side mount. Looks like a little blower probably a 1.0-1.3 l blower. There should be a part number stamped on it. Google that and it'll tell you a lot. Having a dealership install a forged rotating assembly sounds kinda fishy.

I have found a little more informantion on it. Its a 1.6L twin screw orginaly made by Lysholm. And a Lysholm 2.3 will bolt up for a upgrade. The forged rotating assembly was install by performance shop after the dealer installed and tuned the SC. Sorry i left that out.

I may be wrong here, but I think that is one of the older kits, that kept the stock fuel injectors, and isn't intercooled.

I do believe that to be the case.

Personally, I would highly reccomend a methanol injection kit, just sayin if you are looking for ideas to make the set up better or something.

Just want to expand on this, I bilieve this type of set up has its own fuel injection system, to accomidate the extra needed. The stock injectors (poppets actually) were limited on the tunability and cant supply much more fuel than the stock requirements. The wipple should have 2 extra injectors.

Someone correct me if I am thinking of a different system.

Old side mount whipple should be 2.3 liter.
Will also have 2 injectors either pre or post blower.
(Kit lets you install either way)
Comes with a electronic controller

Meth is a great option for these non intercooled blowers.

Never mind, just saw the picture load.
What kind of engine is that? Not LS based.

It is a small blower. The 2.3 is a bit longer.

PS 8 PSI is a lot of PSI for that small blower.
Lots if heat being generated. Meth would be great for that

The blower is a 1.6. Its stamped on the top. And this is one of there first kits and does not have the 2 extra injectors, or the piggy back computer. I guess thats why the dealership had to tune it.

Its a 5.7L Vortech. And yes i have tossed around the meth idea, especially with heavy loads.
