Default max boost on stock valvetrain

What's the most you guys have pushed on stock cam/pushrods/rockers/springs? I'm running 7psi on a stock 90k mile 5.3, thinking about taking it to 10. That would be the most I could go I think as my injectors are already at 80%, but if there is a big risk of damage due to valvetrain limitations, I'll just leave well enough alone.

You could always throw some good springs in it cause the only thing you gotta worry about at the moment is valve float.
$150 in springs and crank it up to 10-12ish.

just make sure your tune is good for it.

springs/pushrods/rockers are cheap insurance... especially at 90k mi.

I wouldnt wanna go over those injector's 80% either...

Springs and pushrods would be a good upgrade. Keep in mind the boost will be trying to open the intake valve. You could upgrade the stock rockers with the Comp trunion kit.

ran my 225k 5.3 as high as mid teens for 6k miles no valvetrain issues, 19 psi at the track and it finally lost compression in one cylinder from excessive temps (most likely butted a ring and took out a piston). If the tune was on I am confident it would still be running today. I wouldn't touch it, unless you were going to be upgrading cams, rpm will be a key factor.

10psi, LS6 springs & retainers, stock PR's and stock rockers at 140k miles and hasn't missed a beat.

Get one of these and you're good to go! Crane Cams Valve Spring Compressors - JEGS

If you only need it once, then sell it on here for $100, then you're only out $26 + shipping.

Nothing too special about replacing valve springs, there are plenty of posts and youtube videos about it.
