Default Thinking of going turbo

After finding out what it was going to cost me to make the power I wanted with nitrous, I have been debating going turbo. Truck is a 2006 SS. Here's the mod lost I currently am working with:
RPM level IV trans
Tru Cool 40K
Yank SS3600
TBSS intake swap
87mm TB
X-Link
Flex Fuel Injectors and harness adapters
BTR Custom Cam 227/236 .61X .58X 113+3
BTR Platinum Springs
BTR Pushrods
ARP Headstuds
ARP Rodbolts
Ls9 gaskets

I have been eyeing up the On3 76mm kit. I have some
Questions. I know my Trans probably won't hold up long, so I will be taking it easy while I find me an 80. Will a single Bosch 044 be enough to fuel me to 600rwhp? Should I go with 80lb injectors right away? Will a 2 bar map get me where I want to be or upgrade to 3 bar right away? Do I need to upgrade to a return style system? This will be on pump93. What 3.5" muffler are you guys running? Can I use a simple click style boost controller? What else should I consider purchasing header wrap, wide band, gauges? I know my cam wasn't made for boost but hell il try at anyway.

600 HP goal nitrous isn't too hard. No 100 garentee on longevity but many guys have put 200-250 on stock bottom ends for a long time with out issue.

Cam, tune, push rods, and springs, 200 shot of nitrous should get you close to 550 rwhp. The intake swap will help for sure, but the bolts, and gaskets you are talking bout are not needed at 600. They are a nice addition but I wouldn't say needed. Certainly not needed any more for nitrous then they are for boost, so the argument of nitrous cost vs. Turbo is irrelevant with those items.

I love nitrous. It has it's place for low budget, mid to low hp goals, and drag racing applications. If you goal is 600 ish hp and you want to do it on a $1500 dollar budget then nitrous is your gig.

I just sold a nasty 408 nitrous motor built for 350 of juice in favor of a boosted stock turbo set up. Now the 408 could peak at over 850 hp. The the current turbo I have should easily make 600 hp on a stock engine but I will have $2500+ invested in the turbo set up.

The ON3 set up seems very nice but the $1900 system is a bit on the small side to meet your 600 goal.

Nitrous or boost both will get you where you want to go. Nitrous will get you there with less up front money, and it will take a long while to fill enough bottles to make them cost the same. Boost is always there so that is the major advantage for the bigger up front investment.

First of all how much boost do you plan to run ? Tell us your goal then everything else will fall into place .

Your return less so you will want twin intank walbro 255s with one on a Hobbs switch to come on in boost , a single large pump will give you idle issues .

If your not going to run meth ( which I would if your going for big boost) then you prob want 80lb injectors .

I don't care who builds it a 60E won't last , do an 80e swap first .

Your thread title is contradictory to your username lol .

I was thinking the same thing. Not quite as bad but reminded me of a mustang friend who's screen name was 9secsleeper on a local forum and he had a 13.8 second mustank.

Man I made the screen name like 8 years ago when I was 16... Had a RST I built a kit for at the time but it all fell threw and sold everything off. Times change lol I know the 60 won't last. 80e is a must but after she's running and driving. Basically 10 lbs all the time. Nothing to crazy for a while then after 80 swap 15lbs I have all above parts in the list already above. None of the turbo stuff tho. Yes I can be into n2o for aBout 1500.

If you have everything in your list you are $600-$800 from a 200 shot. Sell the crap you don't need and pay for the nitrous kit then you can get lot's of bells and whistles for nitrous.

Definitely get an 80e before you start making any power, i converted mine to return with a single walbro 400 with 80lb injectors for room to grow. mine's a 14psi right now and plenty of fuel left. im running pump 93 with a meth kit also.
