Default L33 for boost

I have it sitting on the engine stand. 60K mile salvage yard special. It's going under a TVS2300 and will see about 12psi. I'm going to put a set of ported 243's on it and add a mild blower cam. Would you do anything to the bottom end? Like maybe change the rod bolts?

I'm done with "built" motors. Takeouts from the salvage yards last just as long...dammit

2300 is a lot of blower for those cubes and that boost. A 1900 will get that done all day long.

Interesting take on the boneyard motors... I'm hard pressed to argue with you. It's kind of nice to see someone with the same opinion.

I have the 2300 "in stock" though. I'm thinking it won't be as bad a fit as some would have me believe. When you get right down to it, there's not much difference between the two. Isn't the 2300's rotor group just a little longer vs the 1900? I'm going to be spinning it with the same pulley as I had on my 6.0 (3.3").

Yep, the rotors are just a few inches longer, and it comes in jackshaft versions, only difference. The less the blower has to work the happier it will be (kind of the oppisite of a turbo), I say do it. You may need to adjust the pulley size though.

For 12psi I dont think I'd even pull the heads off. I would'nt touch the rod bolts either, also The ported heads arent needed unless your going to try and max this blower out. This is going to be a badass setup, whats it going in?

I have the heads in stock too. I wouldn't spend too much money on it, but I can afford a set of gaskets. I think I have a set of ARP studs laying around somewhere too.

It's going in my half ton flat bed daily driver. I'm going to try to rig it up with a T56 also. Right now it has a 4L80 that's getting a little tired.

Agreed on using a stocker vs forged lol. I think I wouldn't even bother with the bolts since they are not the weak link. Good to see you on here again!

I'd run a 2300 on a cammed L33 all day long...

Only thing I would do on the shortblock, is re-gap the rings. Nothing else.

I thought about opening up the end gaps a little, but I'm afraid if I open that can of worms (pull the pistons), I'll end up going all the way through the motor. Like I mentioned earlier, I'm done building motors. When this one craps out, I'll troll the salvage yards and get another one just like it.

Of maybe I might out-grow this stupid assed habit and buy a new truck with a warranty....Naaaaaaaaaahhhhhh
