Default 07 rcbs 4.8 F1-X Procharger anyone?

New member from TN here and i’m Looking for input on installing a f1-x procharger on my 07 rcsb 4.8? Does anyone have experience installing one of these units on a 4.8. I already have the procharger and the gen2 truck bracket and tensioner. The truck currently has a Btr stage 3 truck cam with supporting valve train. It has stock 799 heads and the 4.8 is the LY2 which I understand has flat top pistons and decent rods from factory. It still has the 4l60e and stock 10 bolt. I’ve already purchased Melliing high pressure oil pump, ARP rod bolts, and new set of head gaskets. I’ll have to buy intercooler and make my piping. I also have plans to buy ATI balancer and crank pin kit. I need advice on fuel system, injector size, and pulley size for the f1x and crank pulley for the 8 rib procharger belt. Also do I need a different map sensor too? Thanks!

Why did you buy rod bolts?

Is someone on the internet saying they magically fail?

At a minimum I'd go with 60-80lb/hr injectors so have the head room. A single 450lph pump would work great with pump gas.

Yes, you need a new map sensor. Snag a 3 bar ZR1/LS9 map sensor from a corvette/ctsv. The 2007 harness will require you to swap two pins around in the connector if I remember right.

I bought rod bolts just for extra peace of mind and relatively inexpensive. I have two walbro 450s in a top hat that I was gonna install and run one off a Hobbs switch. Injectors I was think about ID1000s and running e85. Since I’m new to the LS world I’m open to suggestions and input from people with similar setups or experience. Thanks!

My 2 cents ......if going E85 do yourself a favor and get either the ID1300's or similar Bosch injector that has stainless steel internals so as not to rust the internal portion of the injector due to the hygroscopic nature of alcohol in E85.

I have an F1D on a 5.3 with heads/cam/exhaust and have the biggest pulley I can get (5.5") and it makes 9lbs. Lashway Motorsports in FL here had a 4.8 in a 2007 Silverado with I believe an F1R that made something like 18/20lbs. Was still alive when truck was sold.

Thats probably not the cam I would have chosen for that combo... the BTR shelf boost cams are made for PD blowers and as such make the bottom end soft. It's going to make no torque...

Thanks for the input, the cam was already installed prior to getting the procharger. At the time the cam was installed I didn’t have intentions of getting a procharger, it just kinda happened over time. Should I swap cams or just see how it does with the stage 3 truck cam first?

Ohhhhh its the stage 3 truck cam... I thought you meant stage 3 PD cam, sorry I missed that in the first post. The stage 3 truck cam will be a LOT better. When the time comes to really make some steam I would change it out.

Definitely try it that cam first!
