Heat shielding with turbos
 

So this topic was brought up in another thread regarding turbo blankets and now I wanna expand on this. My 2013 Sierra is gonna be single turbo'ed soon and figured it's a good idea to prepare for this stuff right off the bat.

My question is for those running turbos, what heat shield products do you use and where? What specific product do you recommend and what do you advise against? Any specific items needed protection from heat damage that not everyone is aware of? (surrounding plastic/rubber parts melting for example, etc.)

Anything touching the hot pipes will melt and cause issues. This includes rubber hoses, plastic of any kind, spark plug wires, spark plug boots, and just about anything else.

I used DEI titanium wire protectors, I also used DEI ceramic heat shielding for the AC lines (buy it online or at autoparts store) along with custom heat shielding out of aluminum to protect the AC lines, just bent 16 ga aluminum and tig welded it to follow the contour of the lines. As for the manifold any areas in which my wires were close to the manifold I made heat shield out of 22ga stainless steel with titanium exhaust wrap sandwiched between. It the end I would recommend getting the hot side ceramic coated. I've had no issues with heat or melting of wires thus far.
