I pinned the crank when it was 6.0L. When I stopped in during the 408 build to see how it was going, he had it fully assembled already. I saw the old balancer installed, with pins, and no new holes. Being paranoid, I right away thought he put the stock crank back in until I saw it by all my other parts. We had talked about the pinning kit and I knew he didn't have one, so I had to ask how the hell he did it. In a milling machine, with a ball end mill. They do it all the time because they do blower motors.

After doing this and even before, I've wondered how in the hell you'd get the balancer lined back up to fit the pins back in should you ever remove it?

I have had mine on and off a few times, but with one single pin. Just need to line it up as close as you can before you start pulling the balancer on.

I also worry about that, I'll be pinning mine in the next month or so before the smaller pulley.

I just pinned mine on Monday. I had a main thrust bearing go on my built 5.3 back when I started all this madness and when I put the 6.0 in the mechanic put my crank bolt in at 280 ft/lbs. Needless to say, it had all of us sweating bullets Monday, we were for sure that bolt was gonna break. We had a 6' monkey bar on it. KySilvy was kind enough to send me his tool, we actually opted to not use it and the mechanic doing my trans build used a Snap On setup he had. I didn't want to break Ky's tool. LOL 6' bar and it wasn't moving. It was crazy, moving the motor on the mounts cushion. Crazy!

I am pinned now though. Thanks anyway Ky, I'll get that back in the mail you next week!

With the drill I used it literally took about 30 seconds per side to drill the holes. I was so happy!
Did you use a special drill? like an angle drill? Also where or who carries crank pinning kits besides magna charger? Thanks it always helps out to see how to pictorials.
