It's been a while but its finally finished. (4.8, baby cam, smallish turbo - 542/589 @ tire). Looking for a set-up for the 20" x 9". The 255/55r20 Duelers will just roast above ~40% throttle. Need it to stick better on the street with the 20's. Suggestions?

I've had MT ET Street S/S's on my old TBSS with about 650whp that did well for a daily type tire. Had M&H Racemaster's 325/45/17 for the strip which were a good tire as well.
M&H 275/40/20 would fit a 20x9 and is a 28.6" tall tire so that still gives ya some height and Mickey Thompson offers the same tire.

Looks like the tallest DR is in the 20". I'll have to buy fronts as well to get down to the 28.6" tire height.
I was looking at the 275/40r20 Firehawk Indy 500 for street duty (I really need to replace posi and gear before I try a sticky tire on a sticky surface).
at a certain level of power you'll realize that 20" wheels are not the best option.
I get that. 20" is what I have now. Any wheel size smaller, in a DR, are 26"- 28" tall. Except the 15", and pretty sure they won't clear the rear drums...

Et street ss 275 40/20 is your best bet but i can still blow mine off at a blip on the street below 70mph
Well if that's the case, I'll just spend $200/tire instead of $400/tire. The issue I'm having now is I can't even 'roll into it' without it wanting to swap ends! The old Duelers are probably hard and a harder compound than a DR or even the Firehawk Indy 500 I'm looking at.
Are you wanting to keep a 31" tall tire to match the 255/55? Nitto makes the new 555RII in a 305/50/20 which is 32" tall and will fit on a 9" wheel. I have a new set of these in a different size I have yet to try but have read good reviews. They should have similar street manners as the MT SS which is good for a daily that may see some rain.

Yeah, if I can. That would save me from buying new fronts (and I would have a spare set when they start to wear).
I did not know they made a 305/50! And it does say fits a 8.5" - 11" rim. Not really a Nitto fan but nobody else makes one any taller than 29". I am also never against trying something new...
I wonder how bad it might 'squirrel' around on the 9" rim??
