Dyno day

Well today was moment of truth I dynoed my truck with mods on sig. 2.9 pulley rather than 2.8. Made 7 lbs of boost tapering to 6 at redline. Made 470 hp by 6000 to 6400 roughly and 475tq from 3500 to about 4800 rpms. I added tsp stage 1Heads 317with patriot dual springs ,and comp rocker trunion kit ,90mm tb with j tube,4inch custom volant intake ,Lep blower cam , 7.4 pushrods,ls7 lifters,ls2 timing chain ,4.10 rear end and 32 inch tires, flt 4l65e, with tcc 2600 stall. my last dyno which was with 28 inch tires and 3.73 gears was 440hp and 470tq, This dyno session was at temps from 92- 96 degrees. Kinda disappointed I thought I would crack 500hp but I was told my tire combo 305/50/20 nitto 420 and 4.10 robbed a lot of power on dyno. And temps didn't help obviously. Anyone have any words of wisdom Thanks alex

Ps. All power made in the band was really from 4800 and
Up 6400 before that's it's pretty much the same Just this times seems like a smoother graph and it peaked before at 5400rpms thanks again

Alex, sounds like power band went up by 1000 rpm's (4800 -6400) vs 5400.
I noticed u said Outlaw 4" intk tube, but then say custom Volant?

Anyway, any kinda track times prior to this latest round? Or since?

Who supplied u w/. your 2.9 pulley? I know I wanna go smaller pulley, 3.1" or smaller. But not a 2.6, or 2.7" if that size is made by anyone. I'll likely go to a 3" or maybe a 2.9" for general DD use.

Yea I just changed to volant custom 4 inch looks nicer made lexan top cover to see filter. And no really never been to track. Even in the heat it does feel better. Just figured I'd have more show for it.

Don't beat yourself up over dyno no's. Dynoing in 90+ doesn't help things, Ya I know you're in FL., every 10° nets 1% more power. If truly disappointed, I'll take that 90mm J-tube. :D

I still gotta look up specs on those LEP blower cam specs tho.

Funny guy on j tube, cam specs 224/230 116 lsa 6.12 lift. I have old j tube if u need 1. I'm just bummed on hp when I guess I shouldn't be. Layed side by side j tubes gotta make a diff it's considerably larger. Sometime in the future I think I must get tvs 1900 and crank it 10-12 psi and not worry to much about iats hot enough to cook a turkey.

Pulley I got from member on here. It's a sweet pulley. I have I believe 2.8 and 3.3 in garage if u need 1. With 2.8 prior to last addition of mods id get 8 lbs of boost with some great heat to go with it.

No need for a 3.3", too close to stock. I don't wanna incur so much heat I reach a pt. of dimishing returns, but 8-10# would be fine to me. Now, on another vehicle, a TVS may see it's way on, but likely not this truck. No dyno or HP goal really, but 12.0 is my goal. 11's, say 11.6 in the 1/4 would be even better tho. :burnout:

Blacksrt403 09-05-2012 10:40 AM

So 32 inch tires with that heat could really rob me of 30hp huh

fastnblu 09-05-2012 11:08 AM

I'm no expert, but heat doesn't help on trck or dyno. Big convertors either. Tires, it's simply physics there, rotating mass. More effort.

I'm still baffled by that big of a cam, 6.12". :eek2:

How's it fit in the block? :P
