I know this is going to be biased... just throwing everything out there.
I am looking for a "fun," mostly street truck with 35's and a 6' lift. I will do some minor offroading. It must be 4x4, crew cab and reliable. I'd prefer it to be quickest 0-60 street truck of the bunch.
2018 F150, 5.0L, Whipple 2.9L, headers
2018 F250, Powerstroke, tune, other performance mods under $8k
2018 Sierra Denali, 6.2L, Whipple 2.9L, headers
2018 Sierra Denali Duramax, tune?, other performance mods under $8k
2018 Ram, Cummins, tune, other performance mods under $8k

#1 thing I found out after owning a 2011 and 2015 F-250 is that a diesel truck is HEAVY. Even with what would normally be upgrades for a gas truck, if your occasional off-roading might include any mud, the extra weight will sink the truck. I LOVED my 6.7s on the road and in light stuff. Tow a fricken house down and surprisingly "car-like" once you get into the accelerator pedal. I think I put about 80K on the 2011 and maybe 50K on the 2015 so I didn't get into big digits, bit they served me very well for the time I had them.
If "light off road" means parking in grass and maybe a muddy ROAD here and there, and you want to be the guy that pulls all your friends out of binds, get one.
Otherwise, there's a thread in here already talking about the 5.0. I agree with the thought in there that blower and lift/tires and not a lot else, go with the 5.0. If you think later you might want to get into cams, heads, and such, the 6.2 will likely be the more forgiving route.
My $0.02.

If you want 35's with any kind of performance you have to go diesel. Get the Duramax Denali, full exhaust, lift pump, tuning from motor ops, trans solenoid mod and roll with it...
Oh yea, you have to buy a 2016 Duramax to tune one...

I thought PPE was really close because he post a video of his LP5 dully doing donuts and you could see some black smoke coming out of the tail pipe. But I never really paid anymore attention to it.
