They are all single piece driveshafts now, haven't seen the two piece shafts since the NBS body style.

Ok, the driveshafts on this truck are steel and because it's a 4x4, they are not all that long

I think they'll hold up....? thoughts??

Take a picture of it, I haven't seen a steel rear shaft on a 14+ yet. They are all aluminum from what I've seen. Or better yet just stick a magnet to it.

Front shafts have always been steel though.

Appears I may be wrong on some of the models.

I found this blurb from a GM truck forum about the driveshafts.

Visited a Chevrolet dealer today with a magnet in hand.
Crawled under every Silverado 1500.
The models having a one piece aluminum material drive shaft are double cab with 6.5' box,
crew cab with 5.5' box.
The model having the two piece steel material drive shaft is the crew cab with 6.5' box.
The model having the one piece steel material drive shaft is the Z71 off road crew cab with 5.5' box.
Regular cab both 6.5 ft and 8 ft boxes have one piece aluminum material drive shafts.
Those models were the only models the dealer had on the lot.

If it's already steel, getting it high speed balance is a good idea though.

Rather than start another thread, I'll ask my question on this on this one. I have a `17MY Sierra 6.2L 4wd Double Cab. It is the wife's daily and occasional tow rig (3,500-4,500lb race cars w/open trailer). Since its the wife's daily, reliability is paramount. It currently has a 2.9L Whipple. I will be adding the following:
- Texas Speed Long Tubes/Y pipe
- Loudvalves 3.5" cutout mounted upstream of the stock muffler
- 3.75 pulley (gain back the ~ 2lbs boost that will be lost with free"er" flowing exhaust)...vs. 4.0 pulley incl with kit
- Aklycontrol.com meth injection kit

I have 17 C7 Z, so I have gotten "comfortable" that with the meth injection and a conservative tune, I can get the engine to live with the 8-10lbs of boost. As I have gone thru the forum, it looks like the driveshaft becomes the next weak link. I assume that it has the alum rear driveshaft, given that its a 4wd Double Cab. Therefore, it looks like it needs to be upgraded for safety while wife is driving and for when it goes in for tune after exhaust/pulley. What are the "BEST" different driveshaft options? I can do a google search but would like to get the opinion of guys that upgraded. Thanks in advance.

Depends where you live I would say, by me in NC we all use the Driveshaft shop in Salisbury NC. I have Steel in my 07 NBS crew cab and also in my wife's 2012 Yukon Denali 2wd. Both are from there and have no issue's at all.
