Boost Controller: Boost by gear
I know hondata engine management for honda/acura ECUs can allow each gear to have different boost levels assigned to them. This would be extremely helpful for trucks making big power at slower speeds. Does anybody know if we can use something similar on the GM trucks?
Just trying to think of a better way to maintain traction without having to use 4wd or slicks all the time while on the street. I want to go with FI soon (leaning towards turbo), but it seems like a supercharger will be more civil for daily street driving with a few WOT runs here and there between redlights. It would be nice to have low boost until say 50mph is reached, then unleash the beast :burn: |

Tuned a twin turboed c6 zo6 a few years ago and had a boost controller that controlled boost by gear. In 4th gear a/f was 11.8, 3rd gear was 10.8, 2nd gear was 9.9 and 1st gear wideband said too rich lol. We ran a speed density tune on this and done away with the maf and was able to command a 11.8 in all gears. I would do a sd tune on it for sure.

How would you wire up the Eboost to the transmission for gear detection? Is there an output from the ECM/TCM that we can use?

i actually talked to hpt a long time ago. all you need is a pwm output off the computer and the software to program a set of parameters to make it all work. that's all hondata does. it uses the tcc lock up pwm to run the actuator.

I've heard very good things about this one. I was almost talked into buying it, but just couldn't let go of that much $$$.

A friend of mine has timing pulled to help traction. He uses a micro switch that is activated in 1st and trips the IAT sensor and pulls timing as he set it up in the tune. 1st gear pulls 5 degrees then when he goes into 2nd it puts back timing.

you could do that through torque managment with ease. let it work for you instead of against you.
