With my 408, truck intake, stock throttle body, STOCK HEADS, cam only, laid down 821hp on only 12psi. I don't think heads make a huge power difference, but the thick deck of aftermarket heads would help clamping force, but you're only going to push 12psi through'em.
I know guys selling heads may not like it, but I know I lot of guys in the 6psi to 12psi boost range that are really mad they spent money on heads. For dyno or track reasons.

I felt a huge difference after my prc 2.5 heads. it seems like it wants to pull forever. Big difference in top end power.

I don't think they will make a big difference either but if I were you I would still go with the ls6 heads

The 243 and the 317 heads both flow great, but the 317 heads will lower your compression so would be ideal for boosted apps

PRC 5.3, 2.5 heads. 862 casting so keeps stock 5.3 compression ratio. ported, polished. oversized valves;2.02, 1.75, dual springs............uh cheap.

he's running a 5.3L, pretty much stock, with a turbo.
Regardless of what head he chooses from the list above, his engine isn't going to make that much more power.

With 10psi, it'll probably put out 450hp or so, add a few more psi, and it'll still be under 490hp, at that point, how much do you think 243 heads are going to give this engine over the LM7 heads?

Keep in mind, we're only talking his setup, and the three head castings above.

We're talking stock heads on a turbocharged 5.3L.
Ok so I'm building a similar setup and have some buddies in the NHRA world with a similar setup as well. The 243 heads are the definite way to go if we're talking factory heads. Now......mind you a cam swap, head studs, turbo gaskets, everything with the build all adds up but even with just a decent cam and stock 243 heads after running the numbers I am looking at around 730hp at the wheels running 10lbs of boost with an intercooler.

Which would be best. 243's, 241's, 799's. Not looking to lower the comp way down so 317's wont work, i dont think. Just looking for opinions. I post this on some other boards so just seeing what yall think.
Thanks
If this helps at all everyone i know of that is actually competitive and running over 1000hp with factory heads......well 243s are the way to go. I have a buddy that is building an all steel 55 Chevy short bed along side my 81 Chevy short bed and hes running a similar setup as you only hes going all out for sure and spending way too much money. Hes shooting for 1200hp with 243 heads and has a couple of really good big connections. Hes also running an 88mm turbo which won't spool as fast as yours but that's not neccesarily a bad thing for you depending on what your plans are for the vehicle.

all the proposed head swaps would lower compression from the stock 5.3 heads because 862/706 heads have the smallest combustion chambers.
for an engine already in the mid-9s for CR, i wouldn't lower it more for something he wants good drive-around-town feel in. with a 12psi boost goal, i'd personally either mill stock 243/799s or do a valve job on the 5.3 heads... or just leave them be.
