back to the dyno... again
kyle(1320video) is out of town so i did this vid on my own. 40meg>> http://www.neufamily.org/backtothedyno.wmv
just spent about 5 hours(23runs) at the dyno trying all kinds of things. the intention was to work on my fueling map and timing map. the video sums it up prety good but i will type it out for those that dont want to watch the vid. we picked ~16psi for the boost level to work on. at 16psi and 15deg of timing it hit 846rwhp. tuned out the rich spots but couldn't get rid of the dip at 3000rpm wich is right where the meth kicks in and we got to 872rwhp. bumped the timing up to 18deg, when i say 18 deg that is the peek timing at high rpms. at 5000rpm the timing is about 1.5deg lower than whatever i post up. at this level it hit 901rwhp. bumpd the boost up to 19psi and hit 975rwhp. bumped the boost up to 22psi and hit 1017rwhp. took timing up to 19.5deg and got to 1040rwhp. took timing up to 21deg and got to 1055rwhp. it picked up 45rwhp at 2psi less boost so it seems like we were doing ok :) on that last run it seemed to float the valves real bad at 6200rpm. it didn't do that on the other runs but it did the other night at 25psi. i didn't want to drop a valve or bang a piston so we called it day after that run. next week we are going to hit up the track. i am going to keep all that timing in there and drop the boost to 16psi for my first run. we can bump it up from there if things look ok. not really sure where to go from here. i could get better valve train and rev it on up. it has good internals. i am sure if i could carry good hp up into the upper 6000's it would pick up some ET by shifting later. the turbos could push a ton more boost but prety soon here it will start lifting the heads. how hard can you push these things before head gaskets become routien maintainance? it also picked up some decent power down low with more timing. it is spooling slower but making more power so i stuck with it. overall it was a prety good day. http://www.neufamily.org/images/1055vs1112.JPG |
That is a 9 second truck! You just need the right conditions. Good luck . Us bowtie boys are pullin for ya!

Congats on the new numbers :)
I may be wrong, but i'm thinking doing away with the log type manifolds and fabbing up some manifolds with smoother transitions would help with spool time and pick up some hp. Somthing like what CurtD has on his truck. |
Woo Hoo time to update the web page! Maybe do it in another week after that 9!!!!! Good luck Jim!

Glad to hear that everything is starting to work out ....... best of luck at the track!
 |
Very good numbers. Best of luck at the track.

Awesome!

Nice to see those timing tricks over on tech working out for you.
Badass! |
That's awesome. I wish my S10 had that much power.

Holy Cow :eek2:
