Anyone using a 408 with a blower?

I'm thinking about putting a 402 or 408 in my truck and keeping the whipple. I've gotten 5 or 6 price quotes and they are all different. Those of you running a 408/blower combo, who built it and what parts did they use?

Thanks in advance.

yup. but, my tuner guy wants me to spend over $10000 just for the motor. I don't have any idea why. I'm not ever planning to make 1000rwhp. UGH!!!

I'd love to just throw a cam and maybe some heads on it, but, i'm worried about the pistons and rods.

Keith Craft built my short block and it was about half that for jsut the shortblock

I have a Keith Craft shortblock with TEA heads.Just the shortblock with a cam will run you at least $5000 add some good heads a ported oilpump and a stud kit with gsks, the list goes on $10000 is about right.

I've gotten quotes from ls1tech sponsors ranging from $3400-5700 for a shortblock. I have also had longblock quotes ranging from $6100-8500. Haven't heard back from the $5700 shortblock people. What will a $10000 408 do for me that a $7000 408 won't?

It will give you better quality rods, pistions, gaskets, heads, studs, bolts and everythings else. It should last longer too and be more reliable. You get what you pay for :D :D :D :D

i am anxious to see what a 408/whipple can do. have you had your current truck to the dyno at 15psi?

I dont see a Whipple being able to feed a good heads/cam 408. I say this, because mine is having a very hard time feeding my minor head work/cammed 6.0. The pulley I am running would make 15psi on a stock 6.0 and it is only able to make 10psi on mine.
I say go with a different blower if you go big cubes or stay with a smaller displacement if you want to keep the Whipple.
