What's different? Same blower. The only differences I can see are that it would look silly (star wars or maybe transformers come to mind), be a pain in the *** to install, and wouldn't make as much power per pound of boost. It would probably cost more too. Other than that, I see no reason not to use it...

 

I understand the idea of doing something different. The problem is that doing something different can sometimes cause a considerable cost increase in a project along with a ton more work and headache just for the sake of "doing something different". The cost of putting the Edelbrock blower on a truck with a cathederal port head would be quite high since you'd have to change the heads and belt drive system (accessories included). All of that to simply change the brand of blower. The Edelbrock system is a very well built system from what I've seen, but is it better than the Magnacharger system is a tough question to prove and even more if it is, how much better since the Magnacharged system does work damn well. For a truck it's really hard to beat the Magnacharged setup since the top mount is really the way to go. The Vortech Lysholm system is very nice and I think has plenty of potential so that is a dare to be different option. Other than that I wouldn't see any good reason to stray from the tried and true Magnacharger. Some say I'm not a Maggie fan, but I really am and the TVS2300 from Magnacharger is one damn fine unit and I'll always stand up for it when used on the right application.

I make a bracket and drive accessories for use of a procharger p600b for ls swaps into older vehicles.the accessory and blower drive is truck crank pulley and wp offset based. It relocates the stock alt to driver side. Eliminate stock alt/ps bracket and replace with blower bracket and aluminum body gm type2 ps pump with remote mount reservoir. Run off single 6rib serpentine belt. I designed for entry lvl forced induction for swap guys who end up with stock truck motors for there swaps. But with a few mods. It will run perfect on 99-05 style trucks. SUVs
I'm not tryin to sell anything. Just mentioning what I came up with. Since the swap version uses a sbc tpi alternator which and the gm type 2 ps pump I built around. But I am looking to adapt to stock trucks. With above mentioned parts. I will be testing on my own 00 Rcsb 4.8 Sierra with the stock clutch fan in place

 

Why would you use a P600b? The P1SC is small for most LS based setups, the P600b would only be at home on a mild to stock 4.8L.

 

Because it works . The sc is rated to over 700 not that much less than a p1sc.physically they about same size. I've used the sc before and performs very well for an entry level sc. The p1sc has the advantage of being self contained over the p600b. The p600b is engine oil fed, I for one like that feature. And is significantly lower priced than the self contained models. I was going for a entry level budget sc kit if anything. For the average guy who wants more Hp.
