6.0 help
Hey guys I have a 99 sierra 2wd. I bought a tvs1900 and put it on my 5.3. I drove it for to long on the tune they sent with the kit. Finally I decided to bring it into the dyno shop but it was to late. It was very weak so I pulled it over the winter. So now I ordered an stock 05 LQ4 from GM. I also ordered a GT2-3 cam from Lingenfelter. So a few questions here, will my 5.3 ecm work on this motor? And also how do I break this motor in before I bring it to the dyno shop?
Thanx |
Yes you pcm will work but will need retuned for the 6.0. I have a ?? for you. Unless you got a 50% off deal why would you buy a stock crate engine when you could have had one built for the same price?

I know in my local area used and worn out 6L (150K-300K) sell for $1500-$2500 from the junk yards, last time I priced a 6L from my dealer they were about $3500....so rather than pay $$$$ for a unknown engine a brand new engine sometimes seems like the better deal if you are not able to build your own.

Not to mention the warranty.
id get it tuned before you do anything. if it has good oil pressure and the tune is good, run it hard. |
See my problem is I am from Canada and to get one built around here would cost me somewhere in the 4500-7000 range. I guess I thought that it was quite awaze outa my budget so I got a crate from a dealer in IL.

now don't you texans feel guilty about gettin' 6.0s for under a grand? ship your ecm out and have a 6.0 tune flashed on it . then rock it
|
So I guess Im perty green at all this. So If i ship out my pcm and get it reflashed then I don't have to bring it into the dyno shop were I got my last tune?? Is it all correctly tuned for my mp112 on this 6.0?? And were would I send my computer??I guess I wanna play it perty safe cuz I dont wanna go through this all again:(

Well 3500 is not bad at all for a fresh OEM set up. :judge:
|
use one of the sponsors to get your base tune down. if you give them the specs they will write a tune in consideration of your cam and blower. then you can have it proofed at the dyno.
|
Mail order tune is ok to sputter around town with but a live tune is best choice to get the tune spot on.
