5.3+TVS1900,, what size exhaust

so as you all know i have a chevy colorado 5.3 with a tvs1900 @8psi, i am currently running true dual exhaust,, 1 3/4" headers, 2 1/2" tubing, no cats, xpipe, 2 flowmaster 44's,, my question is would it benefit me to redo everything in 3"? or would it be overkill?

You don't need it. My single 3" supported 500rwhp.

thanks for the info,, have around 420rwhp now,,, but will be adding a cam and stall soon trying to hit the 500rwhp mark

You're at the point where "chambered" mufflers become a restriction. I went as far as measuring the back pressure. With LT's, no cats, and three chamber Flows, I had 4 lbs of back pressure measured between the headers and the mufflers. A pair of Magnaflows reduced it to almost 0. Boost went down and power went up. Believe it or not....the Magnaflows were actually quieter also.

I agree with this. Straight through mufflers are an important component in this.

2.5 true dual is enough.. maybe change mufflers.

The bigger the better.

Is it crush-bent or mandrel-bent 2.5" pipe?

I would think with no cats and flowmaster 44s you would be ready to change those mufflers... they drone too much for my liking. And as others have said, chambered is no good for boosted applications. Magnaflow will quiet it down. They might seem too quiet at first but they "break in" and become a little louder over time. And i think the current size is sufficient.
