Well im deffinately gonna boost the 4.8 I fully agree with you guys, a turbo 6.0 would be alot better than a turbo 4.8. Dont really see why peoplewould think the other way around lol.... I think im gonna turbo it and run it till it breaks like another person said, and in the process have another something on an engine stand waiting I guess I could see why people would wanna do a 4.8 swap though, it is pretty damn cheap for them

So when you do your turbo build, make sure to have a build thread Because I am thinking about doing a similar build on my ECSB

Please rephrase; are you saying that you regret it for a reason or you don't regret it for anything? Just want to make sure I understand you properly

We're just getting ready to start a 4.8L TT too. That recent Hot Rod article certainly got a lot of people's attention-- that the "weak sister" 4.8 might end up being the most desirable performance engine in the after-market.

There are a bunch of attributes that make it more interesting for boost:
1) Iron block, but thicker walls than any LSx or LQ4/9 motor-- excepting the 5.3 that uses the same block
2) Smaller bore also implies lighter pistons
3) Shorter crank means less stress at the peak load parts of a combustion cycle.
4) Near-ideal rod ratio for high RPM, boosted applications.

If you read Corky Bell's book on Turbo'ing engines, it's eye-opening that the 'peak stress load' isn't when you'd think it is--- and the boost (and back-pressure from the exhaust side) actually REDUCES some key stresses. We kinda came to the conclusion that the 4.8 is the dream date for a boosted LQ/LS motor.

We'll post a build thread once we get started. We are looking at using a pair of GT2871s.

keep the 4.8 trust me you wont regret it we have done 2 4.8 turbo builds with a 76mm turbo and they have turned out better than everyone had expected here are the links to the 4.8 builds

By keeping the shorter stroke 4.8, you can create more power in the high rpms and keep the torque down(relatively that is), which also helps contribute to the less stress factor.

I don't think you will regret going turbo on either, but I feel the same as a lot of guys and think the 4.8 is the way to go, that's why I chose it for my project car....

Whoa, those videos are incredible. What kind of boost control are you running?

I love the 108 in the 1/8th run. Wow.
