Default 4.8 or 5.3 for boost?

my brother want to buy an 08. most of them are 4.8 its hard to find a 5.3. i know the 4.8 compression is less than the 5.3. but is it better for boost? 10 psi, meth.

It's plain and simple. If you're after mpg, go with the smaller cid. If you're after max hp, go with the bigger motor. More cid = easier HP.

It required some searching for mine.
i would try to get a 5.3, mod for mod you will be better off.
If you plan on upgrading to a 6.0 or better than get a 4.8

My 4.8 ran pretty good on 12 lbs. I would pick a nicer 4.8 RCSB than holding out for one with a 5.3 in rougher shape.

And they are the same comp as the 5.3 (9.4 to 1). With a small cam and 11 psi of boost or so, you can get 500rwhp out of them

They really are a good boost motor. Biggest down fall is the lack of torque when not in boost because they are a shorter stroke motor.

That is true, If you could, a L33 pile would be they way to go, other than 6.0.
