Is 10.5:1 compression too high?
I'm currently sitting at 11.4 compression on a N/A 408 and I'm thinking about adding a turbo. Maybe an S480 but I'm not sure. If I go the FI route, I would send my LS3 heads to Richard at WCCH and get them ported and opened up to 75cc chambers for a 10.5:1 compression change. Is that too high for a daily driver on boost?
I've never played with forced induction before so this is all new to me. Could I run 8-10 lbs saftely with a normal timing curve? Thanks guys |
Yes, it will be fine as long as you have good fuel.

^ what he said. I'll be running 10.2:1 on pump gas 11psi I'm currently sitting at 9.5:1

as long as fuel is good u should have no problem

Sounds good guys. What turbo do you like for a daily driver 408, LS3 heads, 3200 stall converter?
|
People always say good fuel, but in vegas you really gotta be watching for detonation as the weather changes. I do a lot of checks on the turbo cars as the weather warms up ( if the car doesn't have some sort of guage for monitoring AFR and knock youre kinda askin for it ) Tuning isn't hard but its gotta be done right.
Only takes a second to scan it and check it out. Hope to see the ride around with the Turbo setup! |
Yea I guess I should have specified that I'm in Vegas. It's gets damn hot here. With 10.5 compression, I was worried about the IAT's and timing. That's what I was asking about a normal timing curve.

Meth + vegas is great. On front mount turbo cars Ive seen the underhood temps get high enough to start pre-boiling fuel. ( Thats always fun )

When running meth, how often do you have to refill the tank?
