Default 04 SSS turbo budget build

Hey everybody. My buddy has a 04 Silverado SS with the following mods:

3inch exhaust w/magnaflow box
cam
milled down heads
its a 6.0 lq9 motor n awd

He's wanting to do a simple turbo build for it but were not real FI smart. So we need help. I know a turbo consist of :

turbo
waste gate
intercooler
oil line/return feed line
all the piping
exhaust side header/piping

But my main concerns are what kind/size of turbo, waste gate, intercooler, etc...... Some real good advice would help much. We both have mechanic hands to do the work but the selection of the parts are iffy. I would like to know where to buy parts and who would help to give some turbo knowledge. and he also doesnt want his pockets to be dugged out

thanks

depending on compression of the motor now with the milled heads will determine what kind of boost you can run .

you can find used kits on here for pretty good deals comparing to what you can even build one for .

imo with compression of the motor a 76mm is pretty common and makes enough power to blow your trans to pieces ( if not built ) and pull some 11's with supporting mods ( should be near 500 to the tires)

but do some research on supporting mods , trans is a must as well as fueling ( 60lbers would be a good start and a bosch 420 with upgrading wiring )

you may also want to convert to a return fuel setup but not 100% necessary quite yet.

I've got a complete used MP T70 intercooled kit that came off my buddies truck. Has 67lbs truck injectors and everything. Only has about 2k miles on it. We built it and then he sold the truck and the guy who bought it didn't want it turboed. Upgrade your fuel pump, tune it and should be all you need. Looking for about $3200 out of it. Let me know if your interested.

It's all in the pic's,
MPT70 turbo .68 a/r (will support about 550rwhp) With heat shield.
All hot pipes and manifold. Wrapped with header wrap.
All cold pipes, couplers, clamps, and and an IAT sensor.
31x12x3 intercooler.
Oil feed and return lines.
Tail 38mm waste gate with 7psi spring.
50mm Blow off valve.
67lbs/hr fuel injectors.
Heat sleeves for spark plug wires.

Pretty much everything you need to bolt it on. The stock fuel pump will probable be ok for 7 psi, but if you want more I would recommend upgrading it to a Walbro 255. The kit is pretty much the way it cam off his truck with everything, so you should need very little to put it on your buddies truck. It is set up for E-fans so you would need those and for MAF-less Speed Density tuning, or you would need to run the MAF before the turbo.

It's also posted in the classifieds now. https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=468825
