NHRA Story » NHRA announces changes to Pro Stock designed to address technology and stimulate fan interest
Whats everyones tough on that? i know watching drag racing on tv can be boring and isnt almost the same as being there, but for a person like me being far away from the closest NHRA event of the year i really appreciate watching it on tv, i will watch racing over any ball game anyday of the week, i know ESPN sucks transmitting the show but hopefully FOX will do a better job starting 2016
Personally i like the changes made to Pro Stock specially changing carburetor over to Fuel injection, not trying to start a fight wish one is better but i think the younger generation like me is more into fuel injecting.
The shorter wheelie bars will be more show for the fans
Having to show the engine bay to the fans i think i a very good idea, i remember the first NHRA event i attended was packed and had a hard time getting close to the top fuel and funny cars but then prostock was empty, they where not fan friendly and this will help in that area.

turning the car around in the pits for the fans is simple and enough. nobody standing by the cars during burnout and the and the manufacturer stickers doesn't seem like a bid idea
where I'm confused: they reduced the drag strip from 1320 to 1,000 for safety concearns. now they are mandating the wheelie bars to "make it more appealing"
I think they should let the team decide if their engines will go EFI, or Carb. the better method will naturally boil to the top. 10,000 RPM limit? Let them build and tune their own cars!
outside of safety, too many damn rules. if you cannot compete, change your program and get out of the way.
I think they could improve the coverage of the drivers themselves. nascar does a great job of this.

I think the changes are stupid and are designed to kill the class.... If you follow NHRA you will understand what i am saying... Switching to EFI is a huge deal.... Those teams have tons of time in the heads and intakes on those cars... The engines is what makes the team, not the car really.... They are going to push alot of the smaller teams out because they can not afford to completely retool their engine program... Not to mention build new cars... part of the changes they are mandating is removal of the hood scoop, which IMO is what makes Prostock cars look like prostock cars...
Honestly i think the leaders of NHRA hate prostock... another reason i think that is, why wont they drag the track for the Prostock guys? All that clutch dust from the fuel cars makes it slick...

Went to pomona for the NHRA season opening, it was interesting to see prostock with EFI the first time, i talked to some drivers/teams about it, some seem happy about it some are pissed, i think overall it worked a lot better then they expected the first time out, i heard someone saying if considering weather and compare the times with last year when they used carbs they were .08 slower now with EFI, 10´500 rpm limiter and shorter wheeliebars
-I personly think they will be as fast and faster in no time but lets see what happends
-Shorter wheelie bars where for more wheelie and more show but i couldnt see the difference from last years :s
-Really like the hood without the big scoops
some pictures, differente intakes, throttle body holes etc...
