I should have scanned it before my battery went dead. I haven't driven it for a month. It is up for the winter. I start it up once a week, but I was out of town for awhile. I got back and it was dead. So no SES light now.

I live off of Rte 2 right across from the Spain Restuarant in Cranston. There is a Shell station that does inspections but they seem like a bunch of screw *****. I need to look around.

I just got my Saturn inspected and it passed. The shop I went to put it on a lift. They said that ANY tint on the window will result in a failed inspection. RI =

What if you don't have windows? Or the window motors don't work? My guess is they will still fail the vehicle.

..trust me...tint fails period.

I don't know how they roll in Texas but after the statey got shot on 95 it's pretty much over..why do you think they enter from your pass. side? when pullin' you over?...

don't even wanna go there when it comes to lifts...you guys with your sweet *** Texas lifted trucks wouldn't last 2 minutes out here...why I don't know...been there done that.

...it's gonna be REAL tough for you being out of state....

I hate to say it but ....RI is pollitically controlled and VERY influencial ...try Wakefield...college kids etc...they get what they need.

I'm throwing it out there...give it a whirl.

So you can't lift truck up here! Luckly my job is going to relocate me back down south in a few years. I guess I'll have a track truck for a few years because I ain't gonna change it.

I am a certified state of R.I. inspector and the law states you can not alter the height of a vehicle more than 2" including tires... Thats lifted or lowered. Some things they are more relaxed with but as Tim said they are tough on tint. Move to CT. not nearly as bad when it comes to inspection.

I guess either I don't drive my truck, or tell RI to F-off. Can they impound my truck for not having inspection? Oh, and I have a 4/6 drop if that is not obvious. I guess I am screwed all the way around. Thanks for the replies everyone. I am starting to regret my decision to relocate.

Brandon...if you read my post when you started a thread on "relocating"... everyone said welcome...I beleive I said "what the hell is wrong with you?"...RI sucks.

period.

if my wife didn't have a career here and things were a little different financially I would be gone also. it's so f--ked up it's not even funny...don't even get me started on housing and taxes...where Josh lives 20 minutes away in Conn it's totally differnet.

here,if you have a sweet car, forget it. if you have a sweet house, forget it...and even if you have a sweet job(or business)yep forget it. they will ticket, tax and make your stay here miserable. unless you know somebody,go corrupt or just plain not care...

as long as you keep your registration in Texas and try not to change it...I.E leave it in a relitives name in Texas you'll be fine...it's when they decide to pull you over and you've changed the reg. to RI,5 days after reg. an inspection sticker is mandatory. if it isn't on the windsheild in the lower pass. side, they will cancel your reg. and revoke your license...if you're caught driving with an infraction(not a legal sticker/truck)

sad. like I said if it's nice, they'll destroy it.

trust me.

good luck.
Tim

Hey Tim, I really appreciate your honesty about this little crappy state. I guess you could say RI is not the Ocean State. It is the land of Dictatorship. Like I have said before, this is a temporary place to stay. I will be put back down south in a few years. Time to suck it up. The funny thing is that I have been driving the truck from August until November a couple days a week back and forth to work. I drive from Cranston to North Kingstown. I have had no problems. I guess I could consider myself lucky. My wife said keep the Texas plates and registration. If I get pulled over, just tell them I am on a temporary job assignment and I am going back to Texas. Which is somewhat true.

And you are right, the govenment here is corrupt. My response to that; if you can't beat, join'em

Oh and the tint law is 70% all the way around. My truck 16% on the side and 2% on the back window. LOL
