Default Version 2.0 goes on the dyno today...

My old setup did 258/281 on a 2nd gear pull with the converter unlocked. It was a 2004 LQ4/80E swapped into a 2000 Silverado that was a 5.3/60E truck. Everything was swapped over from the 5.3 onto the LQ4. Only mods were: Airraid intake tube, TPiS ZL10 camshaft, 8.1L injectors, Magnaflow muffler, tune. Still had manifolds, cats, etc.

Same engine and transmission in my replacement truck now. Things that have changed: EPS cam - 214/220 .604" lift vs. 202/216 .525" lift, both on a 112 LSA. NNBS intake manifold and 92 mm TB. Efans and larger 05'-07' Airraid intake tube. Speed Engineering 1.75" LT headers, no cats, 3.5" exhaust system, Walbro 255 lph pump. My old truck had a factory gov bomb and 3.73s, I installed a Yukon duragrip posi and 4.11s in the current truck. Same heavy 18" wheels and tires.

I am hoping that it picked up around 50 on both HP and TQ. I will post a graph later today once the tune is finished.

Am I being unrealistic?

If it's close to 300 RW on a 2nd gear pull, I will be pleased. Anything above and beyond that would just be extra.

Tuner made a 3rd gear pull... driveshaft went boom. I didn't realize that he wasn't making pulls in 2nd or would have stopped him. ::

Dang it! However, I'm confused, why would 2nd or 3rd make a difference on the driveshaft letting go? Apologies if this is common knowledge, but I've never heard about it making a difference. Hate to hear anything broke though man, that sucks. Hopefully there is no other damage.

In 2nd gear, the driveshaft turns less rpm. In 3rd it turns more, much more.

I guess I just thought most/almost all were done in 3rd, automatics anyway.

2nd gear pulls will normally give you a higher dyno number. That's about the only reason to do it in 2nd gear.

The critical speed of a factory driveshaft is 92 MPH IIRC. You figure 4.11s and 31" tall tires in 3rd gear @ redline is 120+ MPH. No bueno...
