How to dyno AWD truck?

I have a friend who wants to dyno his Denali (sp) truck. Problem is it is AWD and there is no AWD dyno anywhere close to us. Can you pull the front driveshaft out and use a RWD dyno or will that mess up anything in the transfer case?

I have dyno'd my AWD SS about 50 pulls with the front shaft removed. Others have done it as well.

when you remove the front shaft, does it lock the t-case or does the front connection spin out of control?

I know you can remove the front shaft...but woudn't your actual numbers be a little lower than the rear wheel numbers since AWD absorbs a bit more hp?Just checkin..

Yea, I think all of the guts still spin in the AWD SS so the #'s are a little lower. I use the dyno for tuning and not absolute #'s though. I typically lose a cup of fluid during the process as well.

krambo: How many times have you been on the dyno? I talked to a friend of mine that is a tech at a GMC dealership and he said he had the front DS out of a Denali Yukon and it would not move at all. I cannot see the t-case being different from SUV to truck or SS to Deanli truck. With GM you never know though... :bang:

The transfer case in the Yukon Denali is a Borg werner, where as the T-Case in the Sierra Denali and SS is a vicious coupling. NVG-149

:judge: That's it. I have done about 50 pulls on the dyno over the past 3 years.
