Default 485 / 533 -SS Silverado

My latest dyno run. I was spraying meth and dialing in the AFR mostly. There is still more in her easily. This was on a hot motor (my fans died) with the converter UNLOCKED. I was a bit disappointed with the results of the meth and 90MM TB conversion. I was only able to bump a total of 3-4* of timing before fighting KR in the 4-5K range.

Sadly, the 90MM TB only neted me about 10-15RWHP with tuning. I would be interested to see others dyno a before and after of the 90 TB with the Radix. 40-50RWHP is a bit optimistic for this mod

Man I want to get mine dyno tuned, I think I'm going to try dropping my front drive shaft and get that thing dialed in. Any thing special you do other than just dropping the drive shaft? anything to watch out for?

healthy #s BTW.

I'm gonna have to do the dyno tune thing too once I get the engine back in the truck. It is rather depressing walking by my powerless 3 year old truck every day. I guess I never did mention it on this forum but I cracked a piston and compressed the heads of 2 pistons on my 03 SS. I think I hurt it racing a Z06 on the highway and I hit the rev limiter at 8.5lbs of boost and it leaned out on me. That's my best guess anyway. The new short block is gonna have a XER comp cam, JE pistons and eagle rods, ARP main studs. Ought to be a little tougher than the stock setup. Sorry to jack your thread, but I'm nervous about pulling the front shaft too. I guess I'll need to bring some extra Autotrak fluid to top her off. Once you pop the boot off the shaft slides out right? Thanks

Dave

Yup, Just take out the 4 bolts on the collar and tilt the shaft a bit and then pull strait out. I have headders which makes it a little challenging getting the right angle to pull it out, but rest assured, it slides right out.

One thing to look out for is that I believe the parking pin doesn't work when the front shaft is out. Use your E-brake when parking it to be sure. Don't forget to disengage the E-brake when rolling on the dyno though

so, if you pull your front shaft, you are going to lose fluid from the xfer case? i think i'm going to get dynoed at the zippy event.

thanks for the tips, I'll be doing some pulls soon.
did you ever do any stock pulls? I'm curious what a stock SS would put down at the rear wheels only.

I only have a small amount of fluid lost, nothing to even worry about. Get her dyno'd at the Zippy event. I have yet to do a locked converter run and a cool engine. I feel I can pull a 500 / 550 run with a locked converter and a cool engine.

I haven't dyno'd my truck stock but with a cam, 3000 stall, pulleys, headders - full FM exhaust, E-fans and a K&N FIPIK, I rolled a 350HP and 360TQ. There was more in her I felt. I can dig up the graph if you need it.

i just wonder how much power you lose on a dyno with big heavy wheels. i'll have my 22's on so i'm wondering if it will hurt my numbers any. you and i have almost the exact same mods. if i pull those numbers, i'll be one happy camper.

well that's what I've got now minus the juice. I guess I have a ballpark to shoot for N/A then, thanks krambo!

Holty, I had my heavy wheels on as well. My new set-up weighs in at just over 90lbs compared to the stockers at just under 80. The wheel size and weight will make an impact on numbers. Based on your track times, I would bet on very close #'s to mine!

Keep us posted guys!
