Default 1999 F150 4X4 Front Axle Race Worthy?

I am trying to set up my single cab, 4x4 SWB truck for a drag and drive class. I am worried about the front axle not being strong enough.
Does anyone have any experience of racing with this style of Font axle.
I checked to see if it had a locker in it and it is an open front end. Drive side spins when engaged. it is a 8.8 the rear is a 9.75. It does have a Posi.
Any insight is welcome, trying to keep from reinventing the wheel..

I can't find alot about the older style. The newer one seems to be pretty robust. I do see they make limited slips and lockers for them so they can't be too bad.

Does the 9.75 rear use C clips to retain the axles?
