Default 6 speed swap

I have a buddy that has a 200 dodge 3500 4x4 diesel that just pucked his 5 speed trans. We were talking about replacing the trans and I made the comment that maybe we could find a 6 speed and replace it with that. I have done a qucik search and have not found a true answer if they will swap. If I can find one will his transfer case bolt up to the rear or am I gonna need some kind of adaptor.

I have another friend that has a 3500 megacab 2wd with the 6 speed and it pulls like no tomorrow.

I am a GM guy so when it comes to dodges/cummins I am a little lost.

Any helpo is greatly appreciated.

They will bolt up, I have a friend that did it in a 01. Make sure you call someone that makes diesel specific clutches though and tell them you made the swap. Apparently they end up with a slightly different thickness needed for the actual plates. My buddy got hung up on this, but South Bend has a setup for it.
