Default Anyone ever seen this

I went to the drag strip today was hoping for 10.5X at 130+, didn't happen but I did spin the wheel in my tire so bad on one run I literally smoked the bead of my tire. All that globby $hit around the wheel is burnt rubber. Unless I feel like screwing the tire to my damn near new racestars I think the tire is shot.

I was running 16 psi. I did that on my second pass. First pass I dead hooked a 1.6 60ft and figure I'd up the 2 step up 200 rpm. The speedo went to about 100 real quick when launched that second pass then I let out and roasted it again. So yeah I spun the crap out of the wheel. No one had ever seen anything like that before. Once I spun it I upped the pressure to 22 psi but it was too late and I spun it again on the next pass.

Good news was I drove to the track on some mickey thompson street et r tires on some 18" wheels and was able to get a 1.59 60' on those and still run a 10.89 at 122. My mph was crap all day on both tires, not sure what was up with that.

How long had the tires been mounted before running them? Were they mounted dry or with lube?

I wonder if the tire was defective. Definitely send that to Hoosier and get their take on it.

I had discount tire mount them maybe 9 months ago. They may have used lube. I ran them earlier in the year at 20 psi with no issues.

No lube on install. That may be why they are slinning.

Ive always had my tires mounted dry. You run the risk of tearing the tire
