Any guesses on my ET's when I get it completed?

New to drag racing and curious as to projected times. My track is mainly 1/8 mile. I've had Martin at Tick and my local LS guru give me an estimate of 500HP on motor but I want opinions. Truck is as follows:

2000 Chevy RCSB 2wd
Stock LQ9
235/242 .620/.593 109+2 w/ pushrods and springs
Vic Jr with Mighty Demon 850 annular
150 shot to start with
1-7/8 longtubes thru 3" and bullets
TH400 w/ rev man valve body, transbrake, and roughly 3600-4000 stall
Most likely 14 bolt with 4:10 and spool
28" slicks at least

I'm going to lighten truck as much as possible during construction with hopes of being in the 3500-3600 range.

Any rough ideas of 1/8 and 1/4 times and speeds?

Thanks!

7.40s to 7.50s in the 8th and mid 11s in the quarter

You need more gear...

southernsmoker 01-31-2014 05:45 AM

As in 4.56 or 4.88??

custm2500 01-31-2014 06:51 AM

To give you base I has 100 shot, 2800 stall, tune, and a 4l80e ran 13.4. Only had one track time with that set up so might have been a bit faster at 13.2or so.

You have the cam, bigger stall, lighter trans, gears, 50 more of nitrous, exhaust, and maybe one or two more.

The nitrous brings you to 13 flat off my time, and I am guessing everything else should be good for 1.5-2 seconds. Low to mid 11s are realistic. I would set my goal at 11.99 and anything better is great. If you want to be aggressive with your goal 11.75 seems very reasonable, but I like to set goal high and be happy to smash it. Rather than set it where it "should" run and get let down.

I really wish youd stop comparing your numbers from almost half a decade ago to someone who's actually trying to build a truck for the track. And once again, you were running a long bed 3/4 ton with a stock 6L and he's talking about a 1/2 short bed truck that's going to be properly setup and lightened up a good bit, never mind the fact he said nothing about making full 1/4mi passes and that's all you have to base anything off of... Apples to oranges... Tell us again how many passes you have made in that truck??

For strictly 1/8mi, I'd do more gear and converter both. You've got the cam, intake and exhaust system to let her breathe up top. Did I miss what heads you plan on running??

With some good heads, I will guess some 7.3 et's @ 95mph.

1/4 prob near 11.3-11.4 et @ 118 mph

I'm with Pitt as long as you add some traction bars/shocks to that setup.

Will a set of Caltracs suffice for this setup?

silver-mod-o 02-01-2014 12:22 AM

It should if they're set up right. I'd look into assassin bars by Smith Racecraft if you plan on keeping leaf springs too.

I know this an old post, but I have made some changes to my plan on my truck and am curious as to if the changes will affect my times at the track. The engine mods I listed above are still the same. However, the reared and tires have changed based upon what I have sourced within the past few months. I should have the motor running this weekend but the suspension is going to have to be put on the back burner until I move homes. Anyways, I now have a set of 25" skinnies for the the front and 31x10.50 slicks for the rear and the rear is now going to be a Ford 9" and ladder bars with a detroit locker and 4.56 gears. What kind of times should I expect? Any different?

That is a very tall tire IMO unless you have gobs of power. I have 410 gear and run 28" max, but sometime run a 26"

I can't guess with a 31"

silver-mod-o 04-28-2014 07:17 AM

4.88's with a 31" slick for 1/8mi

gnd111 04-29-2014 10:20 PM

Yep...4.10's with a 26" and 4.56 with a 28" if you are talking 1/8th mile stuff..
