Another lesson for today, I did not realize the 5.7L 3 bolt pattern was asymetrical. Probably adds to the vibration/harmonic problems....

stroke it out!!! When all else fails "crank" then stroke it. That is my motto! Will be done sometime next week. I am expecting a quad breaking the fastest NA motor time in regulars too. 13.2 is my estimate

Actually that is not unusual with Dodge, Look at the older LA and B,RB engines, the crank flanges all had asymetrical bolt patterns. It really does not affect the balance. You just have to use all the bolts when one is balanced.
It still does not excuse DCX for the weak tone ring.

Sorry for delay, did not see the post Gonzo.
Internally the motors are extremely close. Deep skirt bottom, high deck, enclosed lifter valley, cam/crank sensors, etc. Dodge puts the cam higher relative to the crank to accomodate the "Semi-Hemi" head rocker angles.
Mod wise GM used a basic platform ( LSx ) for everything from truck to car. Daimler/Chrysler made the first 5.7L motor casting for the trucks then tried to modify for the cars.
GM made almost all the engine parts interchangable AND with so many of them on the street aftermarket parts were plentiful and affordable. The Hemi blocks are cast very differently ( no extra bore on the 5.7, lots more meat in the 6.1L, oil squirters, etc. ) plus put a "warranty only" freeze on most parts so eBay, salvage yards, and Canada were some of the only options for engine components.
Electronics wise there is absolutely no comparision: LSx has Edit, HPTuners, and a host of other tuning software. DC has some folks who figured out how to use piggyback units, otherwise the ECU is a mystery. Always my biggest gripe with the Dodge altho I woulda blown my pistons either way...

the best prevention is to NOT use the MotoBlue underdrive pulley!

Yup, I can't really recall anyone blowing up their toner ring that didn't also have the underdrive pulley. For the 10hp they free up it's not worth it. Basically this failure is not a concern to me anymore. It will be the pistons, rods and tranny holding up as I climb above 350rwhp.

Well then get the forged pistons and toner ring from the Hemi Shop and get Sharadon to build you a better tranny, its being done
