Default Modified my existing ram-air set up today!

I've had a home made ram-air system on my truck for about 1 1/2 years now, this moring I got a hair up my *** to try and modify it some. The air duct I was using is 4.5" in diameter, I cut the stock snorkle in half and the duct just fit over the outside of the snorkle, I secured it with black electrical tape first the black cloth tape to make it look better.
PIC #1.

The scoop I'm using is mounted in the lower bumper valance, it came with a 5" duct to attach to it.
PIC #2 & #3

Before, I would just insert the 4.5" duct connected to the airbox into the 5" duct connected to the scoop. Since I was using the stock snorkle as the connector to the airbox, I really didn't think the airbox was getting more air, just cooler air. Today, I changed that. I had an extra airbox so I used a grinding bit on my drill and opened up the hole in the airbox so the 5" duct would fit.
PIC #4 & #5

Now the ram-air system has a full 5" duct from the scoop to the airbox. Not sure if it'll make a difference over the previous set up or not, but it couldn't hurt. Also, for those of your wondering, no, I've never had an issue with water. Rain hasn't been a problem and since my truck is a 4x2, I don't go off roading or mudding so no problems there.

Nice Jim! Good to see you use "spare" time in the garage instead of the TV room.
Keep us informed on the performance side...

It's made by March Performance, it's part of a kit for 5.0 Mustangs. I found it on Ebay for $30 so I bought it. I guess you can buy just the scoop now, before you couldn't. Jeg's has the components now, http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...4133&langId=-1

Sweet, $30 or so is way better than the $250 Volant wants for theirs!

Better mpg, no. Better throttle response, yes. The airbox is alot cooler to the touch than it use to be with the stock snorkle pulling air from the fender area. We all know that cooler air makes more power so if the IAT is sensing cooler air, it may tweek the compuer to make more power.

Looks good. When I head to the track I take the cone off my afe cai, which gets me about half way down the engine bay, take out the right fog light and run a 4" duct the rest of the way out through the fog light. Works great. Just be careful not to suck anything up.

What difference would I see if I took the filter out of my airbox when at the track?
