Default engine cut out

Ok i own an 04 Hemi ram 1500, and i was driving and the cruise would not work. so i drove on and stopped, then floored it, it went to 4000rpm and stopped just sat there like a revlimiter, it shifted to all gears but would not go over 4000rpm. I went home killed it started it an hour later still did it. unplugged the battery and hour later it worked fine. Called all dodge houses and none of the techs knew what to say. It happened again a few days ago, but went away after a while. only 1 other person i have met has had this happen. Any idea what it is or how to fix it? The engine is completely stock and has not had any other issues(knock on wood). Thanks for your input!!

I can tell you it's a safe mode it is dropping into, what the cause I am not sure. I would think it would throw a code if it's doing that. I'd take it in and get them to go over it, scan for codes and such and see what it comes up with.
