Default Can't win for lose

well it finally started to cool down here and i'm starting to get real antsy to go back to the track. but likme always try and make a step forward and get knocked back down to ground zero again. as everyone knows, i had a toner ring failure a few months back and had to get a new motor. well to make a long story short, i got everything lined out to have my gears and nx kit put on, and BAM!!!!, the tranny blows out the 3 days before i am to start workin on it again. thankfully my junk is still under warrenty and i am getting a new tranny free of charge. my question is what or the guys doing to beef up the tranny to help avoid this happening again? the motor is only puttin about 390 to the ground and i haven't sprayed it yet or put the gears in it yet. so i know it is only going to last so long with everything being basically stock with an exception of a 2700 stall from edge. any suggestions?

Hmmm 390 to the ground, that's close to the limit to what the stock tranny can take. Hemidup over on DTW got a bunch of Suncoast parts put into his, but then he blew up his edge converter, but is getting another one as the one he had was apparently junk. So far the Suncoast parts seem to be holding up and he's running the 6.4L Supercharged, about 800 crank hp. It wouldn't hurt to put in the Transgo correction kit and performance shift kit too. Do you know what went in the tranny, which gears? OD seems to be the gear that goes first.

So ya what do you got done to get 390 to the tires before spray, I'd was gonna say N/A but you could be supercharged or turbo'd. Though 390 to the tires is doable if you got a meaner cam then the 6.1L some good flowing heads and an e-fan above the mods I have.

the truck has a xfi268, behive springs, long tubes no cats and 3" all the way out, pully, cai, s/c,smt6, 2700 rpm edge stall, the first high performance toner ring built by Stu, and the heads have had a little tweaking, can't tell you what has been done or i would have to kill ya............j/k, in all honesty i don't really know. i paint cars and i painted a mustang for a friend that in turn done all my internals. i seen him doing something to them on the bench while he the motor was being warrentied a few months back, and all he would say is that it was top secret, so thats all i know. but it did help.

eabigrick, What gears went out on you? Did you already have the Edge converter installed when it went?

The bands broke and i lost everything but second gear when it went out. some how pieces aof clutches went everywhere and twisted the input shaft. and yes the converter was already installed. i sent it back to get cleaned and checked while the tranny was down and i have already got it back. but i have been having probs with 4th and overdrive for about 20,000 miles.
