6.1 intake manifold in 5.7

well my buddy in the 4.7L bought a 5.7 hemi but now he wants to do a 6.1 intake swap so my question is, is it worth it? i was told itll gain hp but lose tq is that true?

Have to modify the front timing cover to fit. With 03-08 heads you will need spacers for the port mismatch. With 03-08 heads, if you're going to modify the front timing cover you're better off with an LX intake manifold, they make more torque.

No he will not lose TQ but will gain TQ and HP but since its off i recommend getting it ported and make it really worth it. Since he has the 03-08 hemi heads he will need the adapter to make it port match or have his heads ported to match the intake and the adapter they sale on the lxforums.com. To be honest it alot of shit to do before headas and cam. So while the motor is out he should stick to heads and cam and then do the intake cause doing the intake alone worth be worth the cost and money involved. He will need brackets to move the alternator and a/c compressor over so the TB on the 6.1L is up front.

No if he is keeping the 03-05 valve convers and coils it will look like shit with the coil wires over the intake manifold so he will then have to invest in some 06-08 valve covers and coils to eliminate the coil wires going over the intake. The brackets for the alternator and compressor cost about 300.00 bucks but i might have my brackets for sale within a month if he wants to wait and ill let them go for 150.00.

His other option is going with a timing cover from a LX but you will need the LX timing cover, water pump, alternator, PS pump and then modify the PS lines and alternator lines. This alone will cost about 500.00-600.00 with used parts unless you have a major hookup

Did mine done the same time as putting in BV heads and crane 216 cam. Got a great price on the parts needed for the manifold conversion as well as the heads and cam. My bay looked pretty sad after 8 years so she deserved a well deserved make over.
