Soon time to move this section.....

Not sure if anyone caught the latest press release, but Nissan is going to be putting a 5.0 V8 diesel into the next gen Titan. This will certainly shake things up a bit. It was so far ahead of its time when it first came out compared to the other full size trucks and performance, it will be interesting what the new truck brings.....

there's a lot of numbers being tossed around here

2013 nissan titan 5.6 v8 can tow up to 9,500 lbs

fuel mileage better be a huge improvement for them to sell

Yeah, it will be interesting. I had a Titan before I bought my Yukon. Since inception they could tow 9500lbs as long as you had the big tow option on the truck. Better gears and brakes on those models. 3.36 vs. the 2.94. Fuel economy is probably the biggest gripe from fellow owners. It was pretty atrocious on some folks trucks and typical of a full size truck on others. The problem with the Titan was being a 5 speed and having very conservative numbers listed for power and tq. Titans with mods as simple as CAI, exhaust, and a handheld tuner are deep into the 14's. Doesn't match up with the claimed numbers compared to other folks unless a) there is almost no drivetrain loss, b) the numbers are conservative, or c) most others are overrated.

Regardless, it will be interesting to see it when it comes out. I still think about the fact that regardless of how strong your truck is from an engine standpoint, it's still not going to weigh over 6000lbs. Just because it can tow 14000lbs or whatever they come up with doesn't mean a truck that weighs 5500 "should" be pulling that weight...
