just bought a banks pyro, and i guess im confused. am i reading the exhaust temp before or after the turbo?

Before the turbo is best. You want to know what the hottest temps are.

Either will work. Good rule of thumb that most people agree on is if its after the turbo, add about 200* for the true reading. Most people put it after the turbo so they dont have to worry about getting metal into the turbine

Pre-turbo is the only way to know for sure how hot your running. Some say post-turbo EGT can be as much as 300* less than actual pre-turbo EGT's.
Drilling and tapping the manifold is no big deal.

Does anyone have any pictures of exactly where to put the pyrometer on the manifold? Ive done some searching and havent found any good pics. Also, does anyone know what the tap size is for autometer's pyro gauge? I bought it used and dont have any info on it.

Where two volutes (or humps in lehman's terms) merge into the turbo- drill a 5/16" hole on the back one. #5 and #6 usually get the hottest. Oh and the tap is 1/8" NPT
You do not want to drill in the middle because that is where a divider is.
