Default Dynoed my 1st Gen......

Well with a few pump tweeks and other small mods it put down 241/584. Not huge numbers, but thats around 301/730 at the crank. Not a bad gain considering stock it was 160/400 at the crank.

One nice thing though is these old trucks are sooo much lighter than the new ones, and with less power and reving to 3500rpms I have no trouble beating most chipped newer trucks. Best part of it all is if I set the cruise at 68-70 I get 26-27 mpgs. I have even made a couple trips from my house in Katy,Tx to Houma, LA and back without filling up. Thats using about 27-28 gallons to go just over 700 miles.

Nice job man. Good to see someone actually wrenching on diesels instead of just having the dealer install a programmer and driving like an *** with those stupid white framed sunglasses and a crooked hat. Hot rodding FTW!

No programmers on these old things, its all mechanical injection. I can do for free with a wrench almost exactly what a $500 programmer does. Advanve injection timing, increase case pressure, increase full fuel, control how fast fuel comes in referance to boost, idle, and pick what boost pressure I want. Right now its set at 32psi, but I can reach near 40 if I crank it down. And best part is EGT's peak out at 1150* max. So I still have plenty of room to add more fuel.

I'm not done with LS motors. I still need an 11 second truck, and thanks to the way the oil field pays that project isnt too far away from starting.

The Cummins is just a different fun project. What else can double its power, withstand 45psi boost, get awesome mpg, and last for 600,000 plus miles.

Yeah but why would you ever want to go to Houma? Except maybe to fish.
