starting my search pretty soon for a 2006-2007 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel.

I know the 06's were all 5.9's, but the 07's started as 5.9's and the later year trucks were 6.7's. I'm trying to stay away from the 6.7's but having a hard time knowing which is which shopping online I've been searching all day for help decoding the dodge VIN's, but the best I could do was finding info on the 94-02 models.

anybody have any knowledge on the Cummins vin codes for the 06-07 models?

 

Not sure what the VIN change would have started at but why are you so biased on the 6.7? It's a great motor, with more power than the 5.9 in stock form. I haven't had a single issue with mine, and it's more reliable now that the DPF and EGR have been deleted

 

I got an 07 3500 6.7 and never had any issues with it, its a strong motor.
