my 68' c-10 SWB resto-mod!
7 Attachment(s)
I just picked up this 68 c-10 this afternoon after shopping around for a while and haggling over prices, I got him to where I thought I was getting a good deal.
It is my first project. So it will be a slow process. The power-train is pretty much done. It is a stock LS 5.3 and a 4L60e and a 3.73 rear gear. Im still reading and trying to learn as much about these trucks so that I can do everything right the first time. Current mods: LS 5.3 V8 4L60e transmission custom driveshaft cool air intake 4/5" drop kit from CPP front and rear sway bars from CPP Brake booster and master cylinder from CPP 16 gallon fuel cell mounted under the bed. Chrome 20" eagle alloys on 275/40/20 goodyear eagle gt II (for sale/trade - PM me) Converted to 5 lug 4 wheel disc brakes seatbelts Needs (in no specific order): - front bumper -bed floor (not sure if Ill go steel or wood) -I have some autometer phantom gauges and need help getting them wired up, the only one working ATM is the fuel level. -some interior/floor work - painting, door panel replacement, bench seat is in awesome condition not sure if Ill recover or not. -radio -heater control panel -all new door and window trim (may be one of the first things done). -replace the grille -has a 57 grille on it and Im not sure it really goes with the look of the truck. -side markers -larger steering wheel (current one is tiny) -no major rust spots, just lots of surface rust that needs to be wire brushed and then primed and painted. I DO NOT like the 20s, and the front left actually scrubs on bad bumps. Im hoping to sell soon and get some black steels and some big fat whitewalls. Post up any recommendations!!! Mind me asking how much you paid for the truck! Hell of a nice slate to start with. Just enough done so you can finish is with your personal liking!
|
New rims and tires are much more fitting for that truck. Looks killer

I have been working on it alot lately, got all my gauges working properly, now doing body work so i can throw on my camo green plasti dip.
Its the same stuff that is on this BMW. Attachment 113764 Then I have to decide if I wanna get into modding it, or not. I got a sizeable bonus coming in a couple months and cant decide if I wanna swap the tranny for a 4l80 and a turbo or leave it alone... |
No. Turbo and an 80 in that ole truck would he freakin sweet. Or even a mild built motor would be ok. Heads cam throttle body lts and a good tune would make it really fun
|
I had a built 5.3 in the past that I loved the sound of but was thinking some type of FI this time.
|
Looking for some longtubes atm, anyone know what fits this swap?? TBSS or fbody maybe?
|
I have a 68 c10 with a 5.3 swap as well Josh. What kind of throttle cable is that you are using? I like the way it looks? What type of trans cross member did you end up using?
|
Cheap header solution, buy some for a BBC for that chassis. Get some LS flanges (eBay), and mate them together. The tubes will only require mild massaging. I did this for my father's LS1 swapped 67' C10, they came out great. Cost effective as well.

I just went with shorties for one of the 03+ trucks and changed over my mufflers to super 44s.
also added a baby cam xr259hr 206/212 low lift, and z06 springs. |

nice ride, I would chop the top on the C10... For some reason I dig the chopped look.
did you plasti dip the bmw? I have thought about doing my truck in it. |

Headers
As for headers Hawks installed Stainless Works headers on my 71 when they did the LSx swap. They fit nicely with just a touch of frame work on the passenger side. You can't even tell it.

FWIW the matte black seems payed out and that color green is awesome IMO.

I think you should go for it

Green is sweet, let me know if or when you want to do the windows. I got a guy.

Cool,I'm about to build the same truck with a 6.0/6L80E,what size rims and tires are those,I will likely use oval car(figures-they all went with my race car when I sold it) or rallyes as well...
|
slight update:
has shorty headers, true duals with super44s on it now. Will be swapping in some spintech super pro streets this weekend. Along with a detroit truetrac, and a new fuel cell with a sump. tired of only getting to use 11-11.5 gallons out of a 16 gallon tank. |

255/60/15 front 275/60/15 rear |
Here is a night video of my new exhaust. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGlVorCVqEA
I will get a daytime video this evening. they sound sooo much better than the super 44s and really aren't that loud. plus I put in a Detroit truetrac, and a new fuel cell with a sump. |
