LS1 / 4L80E in a 63 Pick up (Pics and build up thread)
Tthis is the best place I could think to put this since there isn't a general area for these old C10's or swaps :)
Here is the deal on the truck: 1963 Chevy C10 2wd Balanced forged 348 CI (aprox 10.7 to 1) LS6 intake LS6 heads (Patriot springs) 223/228 .583/.585 108/108 C5 Z06 manifolds - 3" X-pipe with dual electric cut outs 4L80E with stock verter (swaping to a 2400rpm yank if it works) 8.5" 10 bolt 3.73 posi 275/50/15 BFG drag radials Hoping for Mid-low 12's NA http://73-ls1.com/63truck/truck_mock_up.bmp http://73-ls1.com/63truck/truck_mock_up2.bmp Oh yeah, and want low 11's on the spray. Thinking: 100 single fogger hit in first gear (3400rpm windo switch) 200 direct port hit in second Combinining the 2 hits for a 300 hit in third Who knows how long the stock 80E will last?? |
4l80 is a tough transmission. throw a servo and shift kit in there and pound on it. why such a small converter? nice lookin nitrous setup!
Small converter = Tow vehicle for the 73 Camaro :)
gotcha. tow the racecar to the track, run the towtruck and then tow home...i love it lol.
Nice, I like the fact that you're using the less common pre 67 body. I bet these will get more popular within the next year or two.
Any ideas what the 63's weigh? Sounds like a very interesting project...keep us updated!
Not sure exactly what it'll weigh but I'm thinking around the 4k mark due to what I have seen others weigh.
damb...that is going to be on slick ride. What have you done to the suspension of the truck????
Glad to see you found the site. :D
Very nice truck!! |

Rear suspension is stock right now (Truck arms with coils). I plan on swaping to a adjustable coil over and making some brackets for it, but thats about it. I might figure out a way to run bags just for towing. |
