Default ls into an obs, just a couple questions

I don't usually think of my truck as a classic but I suppose this year makes it 20 years old. So here's where I'm at. I have a 95 C1500 305 5spd. Was a fun truck when it was new. It's a one owner vehicle, my father, and has a fair amount of sentiment value. I recently put in a rebuilt transmission and a junk yard rear end. But the engine is getting pretty tired.

We also have a 2003 work truck that's falling apart. Upstate NY loves to salt the roads In the winter. So I was thinking about swapping the 4.8 vortec from the 03 into the 95. Emissions don't mater as NY does their emission testing via the obd2 and so only applies to 96 and up.

So here's my issues. Seemed like I can skip a lot of the swap headaches because I'm going truck to truck so all accessories should be fine. I'll pull the rad and just make some brackets to hold it. Seems like the other end only requires a special flywheel and a little fiddling around with a bolt or two. Fuel doesnt seem to bad, use the old fuel pump or buy a new stock 03 pump. The concern is the wiring. And time. If I decide to do this I have plenty of time to tear into the 03, but the 95 can't be off the road very long as it is my work vehicle.

Is this a stupid idea?

Here is what you'll deal with.
1.)You'll still need the flywheel spacer to account for a gap as well as a 4l80e flywheel for auto. If you stick with manual. You'll need a Sachs flywheel and loyd spacer .400.
2.)Dirty dingo adjustable engine mounts.
3.)Your 95 is tbi, so new fuel pump to support 58 PSI fuel pressure.
4.)Corvette fuel filter with pressure regulator built in and a 03 ls engine will have a return fuel line on the fuel rail. That will need to be accounted for.
5.)03 will be a DBW throttle body. You'll need the TAC module and gass pedal from the donor.
6.) You'll need VATs removed from the PCM to make it work stand alone.
7.) Visit lt1swap.com they have the wiring harness information

You can find a cable TB and intake without much trouble, and I believe 04 was the year it changed. Cable would be a lot easier than the DBW throttle body.

Definitely replace the fuel pump.
