I am working on a C10... long project. Right now I am putting together a 5.3 for it. I was going to go with a 6.0, but I got a hell of a deal on a L33.

L33 long block with 243s- $200

Right now here are some other parts I have gathered that will be part of the motor build.

Lunati Dual Gold Valve Springs- $200
Head bolts from Oriellys- $65
LS7 lifters- $122
GM Headgaskets- $65
Comp 7.4 Pushrods $105

I'm not sure what cam I am going to use. All opinions are welcomed, I am leaning towards the MS3. I know some of you will say it's too big of a cam. I'm not building a track truck, but it is a toy and I want some decent power out of it. May go with something a little smaller. I still plan on ordering ARP rod bolts and all new bearings.

Will post pics shortly

That's going to be a cool truck!!!

f4tal 10-12-2012 04:16 PM

Those wheels/tires look good man! Lol

Looks like it's coming along buddy. Keep it up!

moregrip 10-26-2012 10:26 AM

nice! What are you doing for a wiring harness?

lowchevytrucks8503 10-31-2012 04:37 PM

I am going to pay someone to do the harness for me. I don't have time or the patience to mess with it. I know I could save few hundred bucks doing it myself but it's worth the money to me.

kainedogg 11-12-2012 08:44 PM

Good luck buddy. I am doing a C10 as well. Custom harness and hopefully twin turbos by next year. We have similar wheels, but your trucks stance is nasty. How did you get it that low?

AGearHead4Life 11-12-2012 09:17 PM

Nice build man. Similar to mine. I love driving it around.

mooseknuckles 12-19-2012 02:53 PM

nice truck man!....cant go wrong with an LS swap.....

lowchevytrucks8503 11-09-2016 08:30 PM

It's been a few years since I've posted. Moved twice and working on average 100 hours a week or more has had me busy.
I have thrown a '98 LS1/4l60e into my truck. I plan on swapping in an 80e soon. I had one rebuilt last summer and had a Transgo HD2 shift kit thrown in. Had a driveshaft built at DriveTrain of Mesquite in Mesquite, Texas. Went with a transmember crossmember from TejasMetalWorks. The wire harness is from PSI Conversions. I am using Fbody efans. I'm going to try and make some pacesetter long tubes for an fbody work.

lowchevytrucks8503 11-09-2016 08:37 PM

The suspension is DJM spindles, coil springs in the front. DJM flip kit in the rear for now. I am going to use Ridetech upper/lower control arms, triangulated 4link with QA1 or ridetech coil overs on the rear.
I am using a 31gal K5 blazer tank from spectra premium under the bed, with a corvette filter/regulator.

I saw you're coming back to Texas, Welcome back!!

Had to replace passenger side floor pan last summer. Pulled old carpet out to find some rust, wasn't too bad.
Got a driveshaft loop and top bar to mount coil overs from Competition Engineering.

Drivetrain of Mesquite does great work. They cut down and balanced the driveshaft in my Express van for my 4L80E swap.

Absolutely! Their prices are fair and they do great quality work! I would recommend them to anyone anyday. Dropped one set of 243's off to the machine shop to get them checked out and read to go for my LS1. As soon as he's done, I have a set of 799's for my L33 for him to do.
Now to decide whether to keep the LS1 in my truck, or put the L33 in the truck and the LS1 into my 66 Chevy II Nova.
Still haven't decided on a cam and stall convertor yet, any recommendations??
Changed the hood latch and cable this week, along with a set of Wamrodz hood struts, well worth the $$$!

Thanks! Hopefully it works well for my setup.

I worked on the throttle cable and pedal yesterday. Removed the old throttle cable and the throttle pedal. I am using a Lokar 48" LS1 throttle cable. I had to mod the end of the pedal to work with the clevis at the end of the throttle cable. Originally it ran parallel with the firewall and had a split at the end of it. I used a mini inductor to heat it and close the gap and twist the end sideways.

Yes Sir! Check them out! They have some for the 88-98 Body style as well. Wamrods is the brand.

lowchevytrucks8503 12-16-2016 05:19 PM

Finished up the Wamrods install! This setup is awesome and great quality along with the instructions

Ditched the junkie oem throttle cable. Went with a 72-72 C10 Billet gas pedal. Fits squarebodies with no modification.

lowchevytrucks8503 02-12-2017 10:12 AM

Ordered a Circle D 278mm 3000-3200rpm stall convertor for my 80e swap! Hopefully it will be here Monday. I also ordered a TCI flexplate SFI rated. Part #399753, this one is a direct replacement for the ls1 flexplate. If you want to go with one that has the pattern for a 4l80e, then order part #399754.
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.per...87b156f2be.png

I had to order this TCC switch from PSIConversion, since I wasn't aware I needed it when I ordered my harness.

Can anyone recommend which deep pan for the 80e I should get?
And which dust cover?

Got the Circle D stall convertor in the other day. It's a 278mm 3000-3200 rpm with the 3 bolt pattern for the ls1 flexplate. Also got the TCI flexplate #399753.

I got the Lokar Pedal and throttle cable installed. I haven't finished with the cable yet. I wanted to wait until I get a new throttle body before I cut the cable to the length I need.

I installed an LS3 water pump because I wanted to run a shorter upper radiator hose. The hose came off of a 2010+ Camaro. I used 3/4" billet water pump spacers from ICT Billet to line the pulleys up properly. Hopefully this works out okay, because I like not having to run the upper radiator hose all the way across my efans from the passenger side to the driverside.
I still have to figure out where I can put the pcm. I wanted it inside the truck but the length of my wire harness is too short to put it under or behind the seat. I can't find a place to put it under the dash.

I also had comp cams trunion upgrades done on a set of my ls rockers. The kit was part #13702-KIT. I believe I paid $204 for parts and labor.

ducky 06-25-2017 10:47 AM

Why the change from stock pedal & assembly to that Lokar assembly?

Didn't I see your single cab for sale awhile ago? Wish I would have grabbed it up.
If you take a look at the clevis on the pedal end of the Lokar throttle cable in the second picture of post #31 you'll be able to see more. The oem pedal rod in post #20 shows the way it faces originally, and in post #21 it shows where I used a mini heat inductor to twist the rod of the oem rod. It would have worked but the feel of the Lokar pedal is much better! And I got a good deal on the pedal. I guess since I used the Lokar throttle cable, I figured I'd use the fancy pedal haha. The oem rod has the hole for the throttle cable running parallel with the firewall and the Lokar cable attaches differently.
I still need to cut the cable to fit but I'm indecided on whether I want to buy a new throttle body for the LS1 intake or throw my TBSS intake on there with a new 90mm dbc throttle body.
