6.0 into 82 Silverado

Here's my new project. It was on it's way to getting a built 350 with a 200 shot of nitrous. But then I wrecked my daily driver and decided to take it's motor out and put it in the 82 Silverado. The motor put out 380 to the wheels in that truck, so I figure it should do good in the 82. I'm converting it to carburetor and running the MSD box to fire the coils. The truck has been lightened - no A/C or ducting, no dash, no inner fenders, relocated battery, no carpet/headliner, no mirrors, soon to have fiberglass hood and bumper. The trans is a TH350 w/ a 3000 stall. Gears are 4.56's and I've got some 28X10.5 ET Drags. I'm not sure on the exhaust yet, because I can't find LT headers to fit this application, but I have a 2.5" X-pipe and dual mufflers for it. Any suggestions? Here's some pictures. I plan to start the swap next week. Any advice, opinions, or tips?

We test fitted the motor in there yesterday, it sat nice. We just need to reroute the trans lines and fuel lines. I'm still not sure which intake I should go with. This truck had a 350 with a victor jr on it and it had a nasty hesitation or deadspot. I'm not sure if it was because of the manifold or the carburetor or even a fuel problem.

i personally would NOT swap to carb'd

the carb setup will probably be easier to get running now and look cleaner, but the fuel injection will be easier to tune and i think it will make more power. you could run the victor jr. and run the fuel injection

I agree, EFI would be a much better choice. But I'm going for the old school/new school thing. I do plan to go back to fuel injection when I find the setup I want. Like you said, I can always go EFI on the Victor Jr.
Hey would 15" outlaw wheels look too redneck on my truck(15x10in back 15x8front)?

Well, I got it in the truck. It's still just temporary, I still have to re-route trans and fuel lines, figure out an exhaust setup, and buy a new converter(3500rpm). I broke this little sensor on the back of the motor, what is it and can it be replaced easily? Thanks.

That is the oil pressure sensor. pull out the broken part and get a new one. And I also vote to keep the fuel injection.

I just got my intake today. Here it is mocked up in the truck. Now I'm just waiting on exhaust and a fuel pump(+some small parts here and there). I should have it fired up in a couple weeks.

I painted some stuff, but now I'm gonna pull the motor again to paint the whole engine bay and swap my TH350 for a Th400.
