Default Tuning a 2015+ 6 liter HD

So I am asking this as I have seen a couple posts with unsuccessful attempts with more major mods. I would like to do a mild cam and headers on my 2017 2500HD along with deleting the VVT. Now has anyone successfully done this with a 2015+ Truck? The last thread I read on it resulted in the owner putting the truck back to stock but that was in 2016 so I don't want to go down that road. This E78 ecm seems like a total pain in the *** lol.

The HD Gas trucks still have GEN IV Motor....are you sure they have the newer ECM/PCM?

Yes I know what ECM is in them... there are threads in this forum about issues arising from them although from a couple years ago.

Well going to try a VVT cam and a set of long tubes and see what happens. There really isn't much in the way of useful help anywhere so I may as well forge ahead as usual lol.

The E78 is pretty badass. I can walk you through any VVT or calibration concerns..

Well thank you. I will see what happens when we get to it. I will be happy if I get e fans to actually work with the truck OS. The fleet suburbans run e fans so honestly it shouldn't be difficult. Just another think i have to add when the cam goes in it.

Initially I was going to delete VVT but in reality in this heavy pig of a truck advancing the cam down low is a big benefit or it being static.

Now the big decision..... 1 7/8" or 1 3/4" primary lol. I think I will just do the bigger one lol.

I get feedback here so I will keep it updated. I ordered the headers and Y pipe the same day of the last post. Ordered a phaser limiter a day or two before that. I have gaskets, ARP or new OEM crank bolts, 7.4" hardened pushrods and PAC 1218's sitting around I can use. For rockers I think I may give the bushing idea a try as opposed to the Comp kit I have sitting which guys do complain gall themselves. I actually have a VVT cam here too but it's too big for this. It's a 219/230 split on a 114 LSA with 5 degrees of advance. For the big old pig that wouldn't be exactly ideal lol.

I am getting tired of waiting for my one buddy to do my gear swap so I will start calling shops again lol. I would do the rear but I don't want to do the front lol. Going from 3.73 to 4.56 should give it a swift kick in the ***. It's getting disappointing seeing all those gears, bearings, and my locker/carrier sitting on the shelf lol.

Even the steering stabilizer kit is bull$hit lol. You have to pull the bolt out of the front drivers lower control arm bushing to install the bracket so that will be fun too! I am seriously contemplatng cutting the bracket shorter and just welding the damn thing to the crossmember haha.

Cam is ordered, 216/224 on a 114 lsa. It's a VVT grind so I get to play with that. Truck is currently getting its 4.56 gears installed so I can't wait for that. Make 6th gear in the trans actually useful for once in this things life.

Where did you order the cam from?
