Default Stainless works headers for 8.1l?

I have a 2001 gmc with the 8.1l. Truck has 130,000 miles on it. I have developed a exhaust leak on the drivers side manifold and figured I would entertain the idea of headers since I am replacing the gasket/broken bolts...

That's a lot of money however and my ? is. Is it worth spending that much on a engine with 130,000 miles? Will it make that much of a difference in power? Or should I just replace gasket and stick with manifold?

Thanks

It'll make a difference. More so with a tune. Headers move the power/torque curves up a little in the rpm band while adding power/torque. It's a win/win.

Only you can answer if you can justify the cost Vs. the gain.

Let's say 10-15Hp gain for $1000. Are you cool with that? Like you said you have to get in there any way and do the work.

You could probably make more power with a cam & spring swap for the money.

SW headers gained 40hp on my truck with a retune. Well worth it to me.

Damn you all... I also posted this ? Over at deisel place and had talked myself into being practical and saving my money by just fixing the leak... Now I'm back at the start, wanting the headers. Man oh man so much stuff I want and so little money....

What if I just fixed the manifold and got a tune? How much difference would I feel with that?

Even though its probably around 20 hp, You would feel a huge difference. A tune on these makes a large difference. Especially with the transmission settings.

I drove a Friends stock but tuned 8.1L truck on a long haul with a trailer and another truck on it and we put a hurting on few trucks on the highway....

Although we didn't fill up with it, It's also been flex fuel modified...
