More Gas Mileage

An alternative for you would be 255/85r16's they are quite a bit narrower and the same height. I wouldn't go switch them out or anything, but maybe look into them next time you get tires. The problem with that size is there aren't many companies who make them. But on the bright side, you can use one if your old 285's as a spare.
I'd love to have 255/85/16's though, having said that, but they are harder to get and are higher priced because of that.

best thing i did for mileage was my tune, picked up 35hp iv also got tc overdrive and tc lock up coming in at around 35mph under 30% throttle. the truck just glides up to speed and is not wasting energy with the loose stall in the 2500. however when i need to get into it. she unlocks and flies awayyyy

Every set of 235/85/16's I've ever had looked way bigger than the average 265/75/16, so it's a nice tall tire profile, while still providing great traction with a smaller contact patch.
